How to choose

Swelling, frequent cystitis, "sand" — Cat's Whisker for 2–4 weeks with plenty of water; pain and fever need a doctor, not herbs. Men over 40, fatigue, lower tone — krachai dam or Butea superba for 1–2 months in the morning; these are tonics, not "an hour before" products. Women — Wan Chak Mod Luk and Pueraria only after consulting a gynaecologist: Pueraria contains phytoestrogens. Start with one product at the minimum dose.

Good to know

Herbs and supplements, not medicines: they do not treat prostatitis, urinary infections, infertility or hormonal disorders. Painful urination, blood in the urine or fever — see a doctor immediately. Butea superba and krachai dam — not with hypertension, heart disease or erectile-dysfunction drugs. Pueraria mirifica is a phytoestrogen: contraindicated in oestrogen-dependent conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Cat's Whisker is a diuretic — watch blood pressure and fluids.

What is krachai dam?

Black galangal (Kaempferia parviflora), a Thai root traditionally used as a men's tonic and for stamina; on Thailand's national list of "champion herbs".

Does Butea superba work like Viagra?

No. It is a plant tonic with a cumulative effect over 4–8 weeks; there is no fast action and no guarantee.
