Zinc
Zinc from Thailand: capsules, lozenges, gummies — for immunity, skin and hair
Zinc is the mineral most often lacking with acne, frequent colds, brittle nails and hair loss. Thai pharmacies offer it in convenient forms: Vistra Zinc 15 mg capsules, THP Zinccap for acne-prone skin, Mybacin zinc lozenges for the throat, Handy Herb gummies, magnesium-D3-zinc complexes and children's multivitamins with zinc. About 50 products from Handy Herb, Mybacin, Vistra, THP, Yanhee, Herbal One and HaemoVit.
How to choose
Acne and oily skin — chelated zinc 15–25 mg a day for 2–3 months. Frequent colds — 15 mg daily in autumn and winter; at the first symptoms — Mybacin lozenges every 2–3 hours. Hair and nails — zinc with biotin and collagen. Chelates and gluconate absorb better than oxide. Take after meals — zinc on an empty stomach can cause nausea.
Good to know
Zinc is a dietary supplement, not an acne medicine or a substitute for a dermatologist. The upper limit for adults is 40 mg a day from all sources — do not combine several zinc complexes. Long-term excess impairs copper and iron absorption. Zinc reduces absorption of some antibiotics — take two hours apart.
