Thai herbal remedies: traditional Thai medicine in capsules, teas and powders

Traditional Thai medicine is officially recognised in Thailand, and its remedies are produced by pharmaceutical herbal factories under Thai FDA control. This section holds over 120 herbal products from Thanyaporn Herbs, Kongka Herb, Herbal One, Abhai Herb (Abhaibhubejhr Hospital), Ouay Un and Mr. Herb: capsules, herbal teas, powders and syrups based on turmeric, andrographis (fah talai jone), gotu kola, noni, garcinia, lemongrass, butterfly-pea tea and lingzhi mushroom.

How to choose

Capsules give an exact dose with no taste; teas are gentler for daily drinking; "Ya Hom" powders act quickly against nausea and faintness. Abhai Herb is the pharmacy brand of a state hospital, Thanyaporn and Kongka Herb are the oldest FDA-registered herbal factories, Herbal One makes standardised extracts. A bottle of 60–100 capsules is a 3–6 week course; herbs work gradually — judge after a month.

Good to know

Herbal products are not medicines and do not replace treatment. Herbs have contraindications and interactions: andrographis — not in pregnancy, ginkgo — not with anticoagulants, garcinia — not with antidepressants.
