Detox and fibre
Thai fibre and detox drinks: Donutt Total Fibely, Vida Fiber, psyllium, Handy Herb gummies
Soluble fibre is the most honest "cleansing" product: it adds bulk and softness to the stool, feeds good bacteria and gives satiety without calories. Thailand makes it as tasty drinks: Donutt Total Fibely with 7,500 mg fibre per sachet in mango, passion fruit, lemon and pineapple (a probiotic version too), Vida Fiber Mix, Preaw bowel-stimulating coffee, plain psyllium, Handy Herb Fiber Flow gummies and sugar-free Biopharm gummies. Over 20 products.
How to choose
Irregular bowel — a fibre sachet in the evening with 250–300 ml of water; start with half a dose for 3–4 days to avoid bloating. Want to eat less — a sachet 30 minutes before lunch. After antibiotics — Total Fibely Plus Probiotics. Children and people who dislike powders — Handy Herb gummies, 1–2 a day. Economical — psyllium, a teaspoon in a glass of water. Fibre can be taken continuously — it is food, not medicine.
Good to know
Always take fibre with water (at least 250 ml per serving) — without water it worsens constipation. Take two hours apart from medication and vitamins. Not with bowel obstruction, flare-ups of digestive disease or swallowing difficulties. Abdominal pain, blood in the stool or constipation over a week need a doctor. Senna-based "detox" products — short courses only.
