Insect protection
Thai insect protection: Soffell repellents, citronella, bite balms
Mosquitoes are around all year in Thailand, so local products are tested like nowhere else: Soffell DEET lotions and sprays are the standard for evenings by the water, natural citronella by Abhai Herb and Mossi Guard for children and the city, citronella patches for the pram, and for a bite that has already happened — green Thai Label or Wangprom balm and the legendary Zam-Buk. 30 products, all in stock.
How to choose
Jungle, sunset by the water, rainy season — Soffell on bare skin and clothing: reliable for 6–8 hours. Children from 1 year, pregnancy, sensitive skin — citronella and patches, reapplied every 2–3 hours. City and balcony — citronella spray on ankles and wrists. Already bitten — green balm right away: it relieves itching and swelling within minutes; Zam-Buk if the bite has been scratched. Take the pair — repellent plus balm — as everyone in Thailand does.
Good to know
Do not apply DEET repellents to children under 2, to the face, small children's hands or broken skin; wash off before bed. Citronella from age 1, away from the eyes. Bite balms externally only, not on mucous membranes; for children under 3 only a mild green balm on the spot. A strong allergic reaction to a bite (facial swelling, difficulty breathing) needs emergency care, not a balm.
Questions and answers
Soffell or citronella?
Soffell (13 % DEET) is more reliable and lasts longer — for evenings and nature. Citronella is gentler and smells nicer but works 2–3 hours — for children and the city.
Can I take it on a plane?
Soffell sprays are pump sprays, not aerosols; bottles up to 100 ml are allowed in hand luggage.
How is the order shipped?
From our warehouse in Thailand with a tracking number; bottles are packed separately, balms do not leak.
